Will Amazon include AI in the next Echo speakers that might be announced in their September hardware announcement? The Echo 4th gen is already 3 years old so it's due for an update. With the rapid advances in AI one has to believe, well, we believe, that Amazon has to be thinking, hey, let's actually make the Echo a real "smart speaker".
But smart doesn't stop at being a good conversationalist or God forbid, giving more accurate weather. It could offer so much more. Let's think about it.
- AI could be used to personalize the music experience. For example, AI could learn your favorite genres of music and recommend new songs based on your listening history. AI could also be used to create custom playlists that match your mood or activity. While it does this to an extent now, it could be SO much better. But we'll touch on that 2 bullets down.
- AI could be used to improve the sound quality of the Echo speaker. As I mentioned earlier, AI could be used to analyze the acoustics of the room and adjust the sound output accordingly. AI could also be used to remove background noise and optimize the sound for different types of content. It might add more bass to your Hip Hop jam and more mid smoothness to your classical music for dinner.
- This is where it gets exciting. AI could be used to make the Echo speaker more interactive. For example, AI could be used to play music trivia games, start conversations about music, or even give you a tour of the latest music releases.
- AI could be used to make the Echo speaker more accessible to people with disabilities. For example, AI could be used to recognize and respond to sign language or to provide audio descriptions of music videos.
